IRVAPP - training course

IRVAPP, the Research Institute for the Evaluation of Public Policies based in Trento, will organise a training course on "Fundamentals and Methods for Impact Evaluation of Public Policies" for a limited number of Ph.D. students (max. 20 participants). The course is designed to be of particular benefit to students of Ph.D. programmes in the Social Sciences, Economics and Statistics, wanting to know how to use microdata to inform policy making.
The course is arranged in two parts. It will run over five consecutive days of theoretical sessions from 20th April to 24th April, and over two consecutive days of practical sessions from May 12th to May 13th 2009.

The venue will be IRVAPP - Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Via S. Croce 77, Trento, and the working language will be English.
The level of knowledge required are introductory courses in statistics and econometrics. At the very least, a working knowledge of OLS regression and multivariate analysis is expected. The practical part of the course will make use of Stata 10. Although the exercises will be guided, basic familiarity with this software is strongly recommended.

To enroll, interested candidates are invited to email a one page CV together with a one page summary of their Ph.D. programme, subject of their thesis and research interests, to Anna Stenghel by 20th March 2009. Candidates might be admitted to the course depending on the degree of affinity between the contents of the course and their research interests. The final decision about the list of participants will be made by IRVAPP by 27th March 2009.
